what's   happening                                                           The season of advent

Sunday morning worship services begin at 11:00am

Dec. 2, First Sunday of Advent, 2018
We'll celebrate Holy Communion

Dec. 9, Second Sunday of Advent.
Our adult choir will present a Christmas Cantata during the morning worship service.
The cantata will be repeated in the evening, at 7pm,
at the Barboursville Baptist Church.

Dec. 16, Third Sunday of Advent.

Dec. 21, Friday 7pm, Blue Christmas worship service.
Not everyone is cheery for the holidays. This service offers a time to give your griefs and sorrows to the one who came to bear them.
Click here to read the service.

Dec. 23, Fourth Sunday of Advent.

Monday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.
We offer two worship services on Christmas Eve, both with carols and candlelight and communion. 7pm and 11pm.

Advent is the season of preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ, and it takes place the four Sundays before Christmas.

On the first Sunday of Advent (Dec. 2) we light one candle,
on the second Sunday (Dec. 9) we light two,
on the third (Dec. 16) three, and on the fourth (Dec. 23) four.

On Christmas Eve we light all four Advent candles
plus a fifth "Christ Candle".

The candles represent Jesus, the light of the world,
coming into the world.

Tuesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day
We celebrate the birth of Jesus, the light of the world. Hallelujah!
