we are an active local mission church!
HERE ARE SOME OF THE MISSION THINGS WE'RE REGULARLY INVOLVED IN:
Picking up food from the Huntington Area Food Bank
for distribution of monthly SHARE food boxes (Self-Help And Resource Exchange)
(money donations always accepted)
Usually on the third Thursday of the month, we pick up food, pack 26 boxes,
and distribute them through Ebenezer Medical Outreach Center and in the local community.
Regular support of ECCHO (Eastern Cabell County Humanitarian Organization)
(food and money donations always accepted)
We host community meals for the Greater Barboursville Community Outreach, a local ecumenical community ministry.
Community meals are planned for the last Saturday of the month, 3pm-5pm.
We often provide holiday meals for our local fire department and police department.
We'd be happy to have your support in our missions!

UMCOR HEALTH KITS
When disaster strikes a home or an area, United Methodist Committee on Relief is able to help people clean up... clean up after the disaster and clean up themselves. First Church put together FORTY HEALTH KITS in March and April, plus received funds for another dozen. Each health kit is valued at about $12. Health kits include a washcloth, bar of soap, bandaids, toothbrush and toothpaste, face towel, comb, and nail clippers. If you'd like to make your own health kit, instructions are here. In mid 2016 we collected a porch full of relief supplies for West Virginia flood relief. In addition to health kits and cleaning buckets, financial contributions to UMCOR insure that The UMC has "feet on the ground" whenever disaster strikes. Go to www.UMCOR.org. HAVE A HEART FOR HER In February we partnered with Marshall Medical Outreach to address a need that homeless women have: the need for decent and affordable undergarments, and feminine hygiene products. First Church's donations were combined with several other regional organizations to total 11,783 pads, 7,338 tampons, 214 bras, 169 panties, 22 packages of wipes, 38 pairs of socks, $265 in cash, and a table filled with health & beauty products! |
